The 19th Annual Northwest Challenge, October 19, 20 & 21, 2007

A challenging weekend is being planned for those who are up for it. There will be mud, a high possibility of snow, night driving, and some hidden challenges as well. Although situated in the same area, we will be exploring many spots that were missed in the last BC Challenge and may revisit a few fun spots for good measure.

In order to particate you must have a Land Rover with the following minimum equipment:
- Recovery points, plus standard recovery gear

Participants will require some of, or all of, the following in order to best meet the challenge:
- GPS - highly recommended
- Winch, tree strap, tug strap, snatch block(s) - highly recommended
- advanced & safe off-road driving skills,
- good problem solving skills,
- orienteering experience,
- positive attitude,
- able to work in a team with new people,
- good memory,
- warm winter clothing

- camping gear and supplies for two nights — to be moved each night.
- optional gear may include: CB radio, lockers, snow chains, sand ladders, shovel, pickaxe, chainsaw, gumboots or hip waders.

Gathering Point will be at the same point as we ended the 2004 Challenge — the Granite Creek Recreation Site, and all trucks must be checked in and technical checked by no later than 8 PM Friday evening. Tech checkin will start at 5 PM and go until 8 PM, Friday evening. Be prepared to camp at your Friday evening destination, not at the gathering point.

Shawn, Pamela and I have been busily planning the last 2 weekends with the assistance of Bill and Andrew. We are excited that we've found a few really interesting challenges for you all. I want to tell you all about it, but you'll just have to sign up and see for yourself! I hope we can get at least 16 trucks out this year.

You can expect a liberal dose of westcoast pinstriping and other carnage should not be a surprise — which you know if you've done this before. I have put a winch on the MUST HAVE equipment list this year. This is not just for fun as you will need it and must be prepared to use it. Winch operation check will be included in your initial technical check.

If you are more inclined to watch or not quite sure whether you're ready for the NWC, please join us as a volunteer as well will need crew for a number of jobs.

Thanks, Dave
