Pelican Cases

#1 Post by N Hamelin » Sun Sep 20, 2009 12:53 pm

Anyone know of a good local supplier for Pelican Cases? I am looking for the 1730T which is a monster sized case compared to the regular stuff and none of the usual stores seem to carry it.

Any info would be appreciated!

Did you try any photography/camera stores?
I recall seeing some around, and was told large sizes could be brought in.
Perhaps it was lens and shutter but I'm really not sure.
MEC has some too; but not in huge sizes, they may be willing to order in though.

Leo's Camera (Vancouver) or Lorne Lampham Sales and Rentals (Burnaby) or ...maybe EBay

Thank you for the suggestions. It looks more than likely that I will have to place an order for it. I was kind of hoping to find one that I could buy and check the overall fit and usage for my application, with the capability of returning if I don't like it!

Nothing like that this time :( . I am planning on using it for its intended purpose. Due to the addition of our latest Saint Bernard (that makes 2) our truck saw very little action this summer as there is just no way to get the two of them in the back with the camper layout I have. So after months of pondering I decided to gut the back of the truck and start over. It killed me to have to do it, but the reality is that if we want to still use the truck for travelling we need a different design. I was able to use parts of the old cabinets and have built a temporary set-up to see how it'll work before fully committing this time  . The Pelican case is for the roof rack. The rack comes in very handy for storage, but without the ability to lock anything up in it, it really minimizes its usability. The Pelican is the perfect size to fit up there and is definately capable of the task. We have also decided to finally employ the use of our trailer which I bought a few years ago but hasn't seen much use behind the LR. It is a Venter from South Africa. Fully stainless steel with tandem braking axles, and locking forward and main compartments. It pulls nice and is very secure but will need some more modifications if we tend to use it on any trails.

Thanks Andy! That's perfect, and they have the case I wanted. Now all I need to do is figure out a way for the wife not to notice. At the prices for these things she would it expect it to be full of something, not just an empty case!
