Snow flake 2011?

#1 Post by HeadDamage » Thu Jan 13, 2011 9:20 pm

Hi,

Where will the snow flake run be on the 23rd? Knowing might help in my selection of a hotel for the night :)

Thanks.

Snow Flake Chase - 23rd Jan 2011

#2 Post by ANDYD » Fri Jan 14, 2011 7:30 am

Yes, SnowFlake chase on Sunday Jan 23rd.
It will be held in the Chilliwack Area this year and kept fairly short (5hrs) as we know quite a few have to head back to the Interior / Vancouver Island / USA.

For those who haven't done the Snow Flake Chase before its a family friendly run that we do on the Sunday after Founders Day. We seek out a local run that has a good sprinkling of snow and attempt to get through the run in our little convoy. It got the name Snow Flake Chase because in earlier years in the Lower Mainland we had trouble finding any snow on the local runs! Shouldn't be a problem this year!

More details will be confirmed after this weekend,

Cheers,
Andy

I've been working on the RRC for the last week to get it ready for the drive to the coast from Calgary. Just put the studded snow tires on today, should be heading out in the morning, I hope the passes stay open.

Snow Flake Chase - 23rd Jan 2011

#6 Post by ANDYD » Tue Jan 25, 2011 1:06 am

The Snow Flake Chase was successfull in the way of finding snow... a little too much snow and ice on the steepest part of the trail soon brought our 13 Land Rover convoy to a slippery stop!

About half of the group took a detour over Vedder mountain on the way back and stopped at the Lookout. No snow on Vedder but lots of thick gooey mud!

Photos are posted in the 2011 Gallery,

Thanks everyone who participated....
Cheers, Andy

Sorry I headed back to Calgary sooner than planned so didn't make that SFC but turns out it's good I didn't... the starter motor died when I got back, that would really have been a PITA if it had happened while still in BC.
