The BC SPCA has launched a cruelty investigation into the slaughter of 100 dogs owned by a B.C. sled-dog tour operator Outdoor Adventures Whistler.
The dogs were killed over a two-day period in April 2010 after a post-Olympic downturn in tour bookings. The BC SPCA launched the investigation immediately after learning of the killings on Jan. 28 through a WorkSafeBC document which outlines compensation granted to an employee of the company who developed post traumatic stress disorder after killing the dogs.
In most cases dogs were shot more than once, or had their throats slashed before they were dumped into what is described in the documents as a mass grave. The report also states that some of the dogs were still alive when thrown into the grave.

I'm I the only one who caught the fact that it was the incompetent employee who screwed up the job and made this such a sad story and is now being made out as the victim. I think it is WRONG to euthanize the dogs, that was, as I understand it, a company decision. How they were butchered or maimed was the workers handy work (or not so handy). The damn worker should be charged, tarred and feathered.

Well I would strongly disagree that there was any incompetence on the employees (or employer's) actions in regards to the butchering. In my opinion a truly incompetent person would not be able to carry out such grueling, sicking, shocking, reprehensible task x 100!
I think incompetence is letting this butcher off wayyy to easy (and I know Greg you wouldn't let this guy off easy).
Should he be charged....hell yes....will he...that will be up to Crown not the Police....just remember that, not Police but Crown here in BC decides who is charged and who walks.
I also believe there is plenty of blood on the hands of others before and post killings.
Truly an black mark in BC's outdoor adventures.
