June 11 & 12 Rally in the Valley

#1 Post by Greg S » Mon May 30, 2005 10:49 pm

That's in the Cowichan Valley of course. :)

Our list of "attendees" is about as big as last years total attendence but there is plenty of space. I've talked to the manager at Land Rover Victoria to see if they can send up a rep and shinny new vehicle. I've also been in contact with the local fire department about having their 80" fire engine on display. The fire department has confirmed! 8)
To whet your appetite, go to the Van Isle Land Rover site and check out the fire engine at the end of page three of the gallery. Page 3 to 7 are photos of the last two events. http://www.topicalisland.com/vanislelan ... llery.html

Gayle & I are looking forward to attending the event. We will be staying off site at a relatives house, but we'll spend our day & early evenings catching all the fun.

Do we mainlanders have a plan as to what ferry we may meet and catch together and It was also mentioned a wile back that we may buy bulk tickets to cheapen the price a little?

Hi Andrew,

You can purchase ticket books of 10, but I understand it costs close to $750, which is more than a standard ticket and reservation. Unless someone can enlighten me to some other way.

Pamela and I are planning on catching the first ferry out on Saturday morning, 6:30 AM. So far reservations are available on all saturday sailings.

By the way, I did my trials on the McGiver welding setup, and I'm pretty excited about the results! Greg, you've got batteries on the charger do you?

Which ferry to take from Delta.
Tsawwassen- Duke Piont or Swartz Bay?
or
Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay?

Tsawwassen is only 30 min awway. Horseshoe Bay is 1 hour.

My son's dry grad is on friday night 23.59 pm till 08.00 am. I'm part of the setup & teardown crew.
Still waiting for access times for the teardown. When finnished I will know when I can travel to the Island meet.

Unless the Grand Poobah gives the ALL clear!! for the early Sat morning?

Twassen to Duke Point (Nanaimo) is 30 minutes longer sailing time. So take longer to drive or longer on the ferry. Whichever has the best departure time for you is the choise.

Unless you have a special need to go to Victoria, it is better to go by way of Nanaimo, either Depature Bay (in town) or Duke Point (south of town).
