Greetings all :D from a newby.
I recently purchased a 2004 Discovery II and very pleased overall. However it seems to suffer from a common fault of the BCM and BCU being out of sync, which causes the odometer to blink and door locks to malfunction.
Lots of Google research points to the need for the BCM and BCU to be reset. I'm located in Penticton and the Kelowna L.R. Dealership don't know much about this problem and suggest replacing parts and furthermore their programming computer is dead and a replacement is months away, I'm told.
Apparently I can buy a NanoCom from Cyprus which will reset most computer controlled modules. Alternatively I don't relish a trip to the Vancouver Dealership who will most likely see $$$$ of parts replacement.
I seek any suggestions others may have.
Cheers, Sandi Ross

Re: Blinking Odometer
Hi Sandi
Sorry I do not know much about Discos but I know that low battery voltage can make electrics on modern cars do really weird things. I would get a voltmeter and check what the battery voltage is with the engine idling. It should be around 14.2 -14.8 V. Then check it with the headlights on high beam and heater fan on high it should not drop below 14 V.
Hope this helps you. Victor 1962 Dormobile

Welcome Sandi,
Why don't you send a pm to Andrew who goes by acg on this forum. Andrew has a Nanocom and has kindly helped other owners with these kinds of electrical issues. I'm sure he'll accommodate but it may involve a run down to the lower mainland.
