Defender vs series brake pedal assembly

#1 Post by RamblerRob » Mon Nov 06, 2017 4:50 pm

I'm wondering how interchangeable the early defender brake pedal assemblies are with series 3.
I've got the series 3 gear installed in my hybrid series/rrc rig currently.
I'm still not on the road so I can't speak from experience but the previous owner expressed that the booster seemed a bit weak for the current set up.
I'm also finding the pedal sits uncomfortably high off the floor.
Can anyone speak to how the defender pedals sit compared to a series rig and if their is noticeably more boost from the defender servo.

What I have should work but I'm trying to determine if it's worth swapping out the parts.

Also, and I hope this isn't a dumb question, will I get differing amounts of assist with different engines. (did have a 2.5 Na diesel / will have a GM 4.3l v6)

Hi Rob

Personally I can not help you I just have the old style hard to apply anti lock (invented by Land rover) manual brakes in the Dormobile, consequently my right calf muscle is bigger than my left ...But this web site will tell you everything you would ever want to know about installing power brakes on a old Rover.

Good luck Victor

I am not an expert, or even knowledgeable, but I suspect that with different vacuum pressures you'll get different brake boost. Maybe this can be tuned?
