Duncan area free ham radio course January 2019

#1 Post by island dormy » Tue Dec 10, 2019 8:47 am

Hi guys

We use a variety of radios for communication on our back country trips, the fellows who are licensed and use ham radios have a much easier and clearer method of communicating than those attempting to use the little hand held family walkie talkies.

So if you live in the Duncan area the local radio club is putting on a FREE ham radio course this January, it runs 4 Tuesday evenings and 1 Saturday and includes the government test to receive your license.

All the info needed including some pre course reading is on the following link. They need a minimum number of folks signed up to put the course on, so don't delay. So far 4 of us in the area have signed up.

This is awesome. I'm in CR so it's a little far for me, but this is a great offer from the club!

I hope some of you take advantage of it!

Hi
Sorry you missed it.
All 3 rover landers who took the course passed (including one member from Victoria), you do have to study a couple of hours each week but it was not that hard.

The next FREE course is in Duncan on May 26-June 20th 4 evenings and one Saturday.
Victoria also puts on a course every spring, it may be starting up very soon, maybe check out the Victoria area ham radio club site.

Check the link on the first post for more information on the Cowichan valley radio Club course.
