Hey Guys,
I would be interested in beginning planning of events for 2007.
I would like to go on a longer (1 or 2 week) trip next year and I have to submit my vacation schedule in mid January.
There are a few who are interested in heading down to the National Rally, see other post below. Also, talk of heading north.
Anyways id like to get a handle on the dates in the next month.
THanks,
DOn

How do these suggestions sound, dates needed of course.
Founder's Day

Whipsaw #1
Laager in the Vally
Hale Creek drop-in
Andrew's Prince Rupert Rendevous
Whipsaw #2
Blair Ranch Project
Whipsaw #3

Add to that the National Rally for some, and perhaps a trip to Eastnor for the LRW show the second week of June — at least that's what I'm trying to convince the decision maker here to do...
Blair Ranch Project in late spring would be preferred from our end.

So,
Founders Day Jan 20
Snowflake Chase Jan 21
Blair Ranch Project (suggest Easter long weekend April 6-9)
Whipsaw Spring Clean-up (suggest May 19-20 Victoria weekend-considering snow)
Hale Creek Drop-in (suggest June 16-17 Father's Day)
Windy ridge (suggest June 30 July 1-2 Canada Day long weekend)
Whipsaw Summer run (suggest BC day long weekend August 4,5,6)
Andrew's Prince Rupert run(labour day weekend? September 1,2,3)
NW Challenge (suggest traditional 7-8 October of Thanksgiving weekend)
Fall Whipsaw(October 21-22 probably last chance without snow)
That leaves space for those attending the July 11-15 PNW event that Wes mentioned.

Looks good, a few questions, though...
1. We'll have to get a date on the VanIsle run to ensure it doesn't conflict with Hale Creek. Greg?? you there?
2. National Rally - August 15-18
3. Do we want a Trials again in November, or earlier before the weather gets bad? or at all?
Dave

We could move Hale to March 17-18, nothing in March so far and we can have some pretty nice weather then.

What about the TRIALS a week or so before the NORTHWEST CHALLENGE. to test THE ROVERS THAT ARE GOING TO COMPETE. MIGHT SHOW UP SOME WEAKNESES!!!!/ Spent some time at PATS DRIVE LINE, this week with the manager getting the new drive shaft spect out for the higher truck, and they would like to sponsor an event there some time next year, as long as there is a local club hosting it. we should talk that out . rick.m

I'm here! I don't know the date, but it is the weekend before Fathers Day in June. Possibly 9-10 of June.

Hey Kris, there's always room for a gig if there are trucks to participate. Only five trucks at the bible camp last year and only three camped overnight. When were you thinking of doing a run? Who's interested this year, let's have a show of hands?
Looks like Greg's got the right dates 9-10 June, that is the weekend before Father's day.
Founders Day Jan 20
Snowflake Chase Jan 21
Blair Ranch Project (suggest Easter long weekend April 6-9)
----Not our run but VanDuessen ABFM May 19
Whipsaw Spring Clean-up (suggest May 19-20 Victoria weekend-considering snow)
Van Isle Laager in the valley(June 9-10)
Hale Creek Drop-in (suggest June 16-17 Father's Day)
Windy ridge (suggest June 30 July 1-2 Canada Day long weekend)
----Not our run but PNW trail jam July 11-15
Whipsaw Summer run (suggest BC day long weekend August 4,5,6)
----Not our run but National Rally August 15-18 in Colorado
Andrew's Prince Rupert run(labour day weekend? September 1,2,3)
NW Challenge (suggest traditional 7-8 October of Thanksgiving weekend)
Fall Whipsaw(October 21-22 probably last chance without snow)

Kris. Any runs to THE BIBLE CAMP have to be cleared with the pastor. Wes from the HERD has details. there are quite a few runs into there that are with the HERD, and they would welcome extra trucks. there are some changes going on there. some serious cleanup etc. rick.m

Don't forget about the Van Dusen ABFM on May 21?
And the Portland ABFM was a lot of fun the September Labour day weekend...

hmm, Bible camp seems too complicated,
how about run up to Cariboo?
we could swing by the dead mans falls.
early/mid summer to avoid high water from melting snow.

I agree, much as I'd like to go to the bible camp again, I'm not excited about the changes, but they have to take the responsibility for their property so I guess it had to happen.
Cariboo sounds good. Could we perhaps combine Windy Ridge or Mud Lakes with a Cariboo-Chilcotin run and make it 5-7 days? I still would like to see if one could break through from the south to the Chilcotin without having to follow the Fraser. Older maps seem to suggest trails in the area, and the 2002 Mackenzie Trail group spent a bit of time exploring, but now that we have the GPS - computer setups, and the digital maps have gotten better, it might be worth giving it another try. I know a guy who has motorcycled out of the central Chilcotin directly to the Gold Bridge area, but that was a bike, not sure if it would be possible for trucks.
Also, where do we want to put the trials, or have we put that on enough for awhile?

I say more trials and more landrovers at the trials!!
We should devise a points system for the year and have an awards presentation at the following Founders Day.
Points for attendance
Points for Trials for the Landrovers (since the Landrovers always seems to get there butts kicked)
Special "boo, boo" points
Hey, didn't we do some of this at last years founders day? :? :?
Anyone got a tally from this year?
Later,
Don
Clapperton Ranch - Merritt Weekend

Hello Guys....
I would like to celebrate my birthday again with you in Merritt at Alan Simpson's Ranch (RoverWorks). I have talked to Alan and he would be happy to see us again. He will even round up some big BBQ's for a nice feast on Saturday night.
I have also talked to Murphy Shewchuk the local trails guy whose book, "Coquilhalla Trips and Trails" is coming out in December -(Christmas Ideas!!) and he will help me formulate a fun ride for us Saturday and Sunday. I sure we could also talk to Micheal Knight and play on the Merritt off-road track if people are interested.
The would be a camping weekend and the advantage of Alan's place is it is an easy drive Friday night and you don't have to pack up camp Saturday morning.
I am proposing the weekend of May 25-27th, 2007.

OK, how does this sound...
Added Trials, Cariboo Run in July, Portland, and Canyon Run.
I think our first Whipsaw run may be too early. Could we trade it with Hale Creek?
Founders Day Jan 20
Snowflake Chase Jan 21
Blair Ranch Project (suggest Easter long weekend April 6-9)
----Not our run but VanDuessen ABFM May 19
Whipsaw Spring Clean-up (suggest May 19-20 Victoria weekend-considering snow)
Canyon Run (Alan Simpson's, suggest May 26-27)
Van Isle Laager in the valley(June 9-10)
Hale Creek Drop-in (suggest June 16-17 Father's Day)
Windy Ridge (suggest June 30 July 1-2 Canada Day long weekend)
Cariboo Run (suggest we add it on the back end of the Canada day run, for anyone who wants a longer trip, could go July 3-8th)
----Not our run but Portland ABFM Sept. 1,2,3 in Portland, OR, dates to be confirmed
NW Challenge (suggest traditional 7-8 October of Thanksgiving weekend)
Fall Whipsaw(October 21-22 probably last chance without snow)

One more proposal from me...
During the summer, we've been waiving monthly meetings for the 4 summer months of June, July, August and September and meeting in a park. I propose that we change this to only July and August and have regular meetings in both June and September.

I think the newsleter may well be on it's way to the UK when it should be coming over to the island.

Hi David,
It's not on the way to the UK, as your membership wasn't renewed this year and we only send out the newsletters to members...unless you think there's been a mistake, if so. please let me know.
We do have your current address, though...
thanks, Dave

Dang. I just checked and the last time I paid was January this year. Never mind, I've just renewed. Shall I pick up the magazine at Founders Day?

Hi Guys,
I am just trying to sort out my summer schedule and was wondering the date for the Windy Ridge run. June 29/30 to ??
Kris are you the lead in this one?
Is it only the long weekend? Are there other interested in extending it? Where should we go?
Looking forward to everyone's ideas.

Stuart, the plan was to extend Windy Ridge into the Cariboo/chilcoltin, for anyone who wanted to stay a few extra days. We still have lots of time, so certainly we could open a discussion of where we want to go...

Hi all,
Is anyone still interested in going to the Bible Camp? A few friends and I are hoping to go early in March and would welcome any company. Does anyone know if there are any runs already planned around that time?
Also, I'd like to get permission so contact info for the pastor would be appreciated.
Regards,
Pete
