Hi everyone,

Is this run still on?

If so, I look forward to seeing all other takers at the RV point (Sasquatch Inn - 46001 Lougheed Hwy, Harrison Mills) at 0900 on Saturday.

Roger Sutcliffe is heading up this run, to be clear the run is still on unless otherwise posted but not this Saturday, next Saturday March 15th. Those interested should try and post here so Roger can get an idea of how many trucks to expect.

I'm still "organizing " this run. Let me know if your coming so we can do a head count in and out.

My kids are coming, so they would be glad to see more kids out. Don't forget the rover dogs!

I have a stock Discovery II that I purchased last summer.
Would it be up to this run?
I would love to get it off road and learn about its capabilities.

D2000,

Your vehicle should be more than capable enough for this run. The majority of our vehicles are not as highly modified as you tend to see in other 4x4 clubs. In this part of the world a little extra ground clearance is always good (slightly larger tires, remove air dams and side steps, etc) but the rest of the Rover is build for this sort of thing. I would suggest that you introduce yourself at the start of the run and solicit advice and assistance from some of the more seasoned veterans. They are easily recognizable by the bents and scratches on their Rovers :wink:

Hale Creek is a great location and I am sure you will not regret making the trip!

Yup D2000 should be no big deal for your Discovery2 (what year?). Couple a things for your consideration if your vehicle is so equipped, remove running boards before this trip. Also any type of bike rack etc. that maybe attached to your trailer hitch should also be removed. Other than that you should be ready to have a great day.

I did Hale creek last year with a stock Disco 1. I think I took the air dam off just to be safe.

I'll probably take it off again this time.

Last time I was down there (last summer) I saw stock Ford extended cab 4X4's

“D2000” I guess that answers my previous question regarding the year of your Discovery. :)
Removing the Discovery2 air dam is not as straight forward as it is for a Discovery1. However you are unlikely to do anything more that a scratch or 2 they are amazingly flexible with the vehicle moving forwards, not as flexible in reverse. :shock:

Unfortunately we aren't going to be down from the interior for this run, but it looks like its shaping up to be a good group for an outing. Have fun everyone.

I have already removed the side steps, 2000 Discovery SE7.
It has a front brush guard - I think it's a Land Rover part?

My plan is to get some AT tires and a small suspension lift.
I would like to get some experience and advice before I spend my
money buying the wrong parts. Nothing radical planed.

Just wondering what type of tire you should have on your vehicle before attempting this out my RR runs good and would keep up however I have the Michelin's still on my vehicle and they are probably at 30 to 40 percent left. Street legal but not, he man, mud slinging, ball breaking tread like most of you have. Kinda Richmond suburbs grocery getter tires. :D

everything else is stock, brush guard no air dam and no rock sliders.

Ah well Rob I might have a deal for you so you to can have all the tire you might want :P . Actually I’m just replacing my well used, but still very usable Goodyear MTR’s available Sat am in Chilliwack @ Fountain Tire. See parts for sale, don’t want to hijack this thread any more. :roll:

Not sure which route you're planning to take down to the lake but the right (hard) side washout is getting pretty deep. I was there this weekend. You will definitely want to take off any running boards and keep an eye on those rockers. Also if you were planning on heading up to sunrise there is quite a lot of snow still but we managed to break a trail to within a few hundred meters of the lake.

Most of the trail is fairly snow free except for the very beginning and the very end. Should be a lot of fun.

Hey Roger, Nice to see this is still a go, count Sandrine and I in for the day. It will be the very first outing in the new truck (2008 LR3 HSE) assuming it's done this week, LOL...

Follow Hwy 7 towards Harrison Hot springs and Aggassiz.

Its probably fastest to come out Hwy 1 to the Sumas/Mission exit (92) and take Hwy 11 to Mission

This will take you over the Fraser River into Mission. Turn East on Hwy 7

From Mission to the Sasquatch Inn is approx 32.5437 kms

If you cross the bridge over the Harrison River you've gone to far

Looks like quite the crowd is coming.

I also had a great time and was happy I could help. Someday, I'm sure you'll have the opportunity to help me. I was sorry to see the damage to your truck but at least it was nothing serious.
