Hi Andy,
I'm glad to hear you guys are still up for it.
I haven't really thought about when I'll depart, I guess it depends on if I go alone or meet anyone else for the trip. If I go alone, I guess it will be Friday evening. Are you guys spending Friday night at Lodestone?

Hi Pete,
Not too sure about Friday night camping location yet. Lodestone would make sense as I believe we have a little work to do there.
I wouldn't mind spending Saturday night at the small lake where we did the BFG presentation, it would be a new area to take in. Although its not far from Lodestone and wouldn't take very long to get there!
Better let Shawn post, to see what he has in mind..... Shawn???

Yes I'm in to leaving Friday night and camping at lodestone. We can work on the site in the morning then move on to the small lake that you mentioned. But on the way we will stop and cut up that Bronco into pieces and possibly cut up the Scout too.

Thanks, John

Hi Guys,
Great that you can make it, you will find it to be an amazing trail with just enough of a chalenge to keep you smiling.
Not sure of the departure time yet, will have to let you know as the week goes on. The normal meeting spot is the Tim Hortons at the Whatcom road exit of HWay 1 (exit 95).
John, the only problem with coming up on Saturday morning is that it is a little tricky finding Lodestone Lake if you have never been there before.

I was thinking of a 2:00 pm departure from Tim Hortons on Whatcom road on Friday. For John following are directions for Lodstone lake.
Turn north at the Petro Can station off highway 3 in Princeton and drive though town. Drive over the one lane bridge turn left and follow the direction sign to Coalmont about 15 minutes. Turn left onto Main St. at the 4 way stop in Coalmont. Turn right onto Bettes St. and follow it over the one lane bridge. Turn left onto Blakeburn road and follow it approx 1.5 k to the next intersection. Zero odometer here. Turn right and drive up the hill. Follow the road up; at 6 k stay right at Y intersection. Continue up the road at 9 k you will reach the mine site turn left follow the signs to Lodestone Lake. At 10 k stay right. At 11 k owls head go straight. At 11.3 k go right At 12 k go right. At 12.3 k small trapper’s cabin on right abandoned. At 12.6 k turn left at Y intersection. At 14 k. go around fallen tree and stay left. At hill all roads go to the same place. At 17 k go right. At 20.6 k you reach Lodestone Lake. We would be working at the site to around 10:00 am then leaving. If you think this is a little complicated let us know, we will do whatever we can to include you in the run. One of us can run down the hill and meet you in Colemont if necessarry.

Hey guys,
If I leave Friday, it won't be until after 5:00. Given that I don't need to set up much of a camp (sleep in the 110), I'm in no hurry to get there before dark. This may not suit others but if anyone wants to convoy there, let me know.

Shawn,
If you're okay with waiting until after 5:00 it would be great to drive out together. If you'd rather leave earlier, no problem, I'll find you.
Dave,
I also don't want to get home too late on Sunday. Hopefully you can make it, the more, the merrier!

Hi Guys,
How long is the run from Whatcom to the first night camping spot?
Just trying to figure out times and distances as I have never been up there before? Coming from Deep Cove.
I too would be sleeping in my truck so a late start doesn't bother me.

It will take 4 to 4 1/2 hours to get to Lodestone depending on traffic and road conditions.

Well as usual theirs more to the story, I have just installed a new engine 4.6 out of a 2004 and have less than 5k on her but there Is an oil Leak so the speed shop doesn't want to pull the engine so we have pulled the trans and t case, so while they are out Im getting it all looked at .

Hi Guys,
Looks like there may be tow "leafers" on this trip...my 109 is running great and I will be able to give you a definitive answer tomorrow.
My son Scott plays lacrosse and took a hit last week, bruising his kidney and straining ligaments in his back. So I am little concerned obviously over his recovery.
Other than the incredible smooth ride of my 109...lol...how is the trail?
I may come alone or bring him along. Looks like fantastic weather.
Cheers,

Hi Dave,
Sorry to hear about Scott, hopefully he will be able to make it!
The trail is good and easy at this time of year (no snow or water logged sections) for about 90% of the time with just a few spots, a couple of hills with some steep, rocky sections and maybe a muddy creek crossing here and there. Dont worry, Shawn has basically the same truck as yours and has run the gauntlet several times with little problem. We will all be in convoy and ready to assist over any tricky sections.
I believe the plan is to emerge back on the highway 3 around noon on Sunday so you shouldn't have any trouble getting back to Chilliwack by 4pm.
cheers,
Andy
