Now that I'm towing my cargo trailer all the time with my 110 for work, I'm motivated to actually do something about the 1.2 Disco transfer~case I have. (My truck has the 300tdi swap from a disco) Namely, put in a 1.4.

If anyone has one lying around I'd be interested. I'm finding first gear way too high for taking off when I'm on an incline.

Or an under~drive I suppose! Hahahaha, even more rare.

I could never find a local one when I changed my truck to a 1.4, so I got everything from Ashcroft to convert my 1.2 to a 1.4. If I remember right it was less than $400cdn landed for everything to rebuild the whole box plus the 1.4 conversion parts. Easy to do as well.

Yeah, that's likely what will happen to me too!

I've got a "parts" lt230 1.2 ratio I pulled off my Defender that you can have for a re-builder core if you want. It was unfortunately run without oil (ouch) but could be useful as a core for a new set of guts. Free to a good home if you want it.

I might just take you up on that Rob. I feel like rebuilding your melted case and then pulling the old switcheroo on my truck would lead to the least down time for the old bus.

After looking at the ratio calculator on the Ashcroft site, I'd entertain the idea of a nice 1.6, and then i could just bang an overdrive on there, I'd have nice low high range, and with the overdrive I'd still have the tall gears I have now. I feel like any 1.6 I'd come across is likely flogged out enough to need a full rebuild. There goes the time savings! Hahaha.

Still looking? I may be interested in a swap from a 1.4 to a 1.2 if yours is in good running order...
