Did you find your schematics? If you haven't let me know as I think I have them in my "stuff" <- I am in the middle of moving and my "stuff" isn't the most accessible at the moment.
Also if you are looking for wire, connectors, heat shrink tubing I strongly suggest visiting Lee's Electronics he is on Main at about 28th I think. You can buy lots of different colours and gages of wire at the best prices I have seen. Princes Auto also has heat shrink tubing that is quite inexpensive.
Depending on your plans for your rover you might consider visiting some of the marine supply stores as you can get components that are far more tolerant to H2O then standard automotive stuff. There is also a form of heat shrink tubing that forms a waterproof seal when heated that may be a good investment.
I am sure that everyone has there own opinion but I would try not to use any of the crimp type of connectors, they are quick but I believe that they allow water to get into the connection and cause corrosion. I would recommend soldering everything. Many of the crimp connectors can be soldered if you cut off the plastic sleeve.
Otherwise, good luck and have fun!
