Whipsaw Victoria Day Weekend Run

Hi All,

Victoria Day weekend promises to be a busy one, with VanDusen ABFM on Saturday, and our first Whipsaw cleanup as well.

Some have expressed interest in heading up early, like Friday night or Saturday morning, while others have expressed interest in going to the ABFM and then heading up on Sunday and staying through Tuesday.

Can we start a dialog of what your plans are so we can set a couple of departure times/places?

Do you want to head in from Clear Creek or from Granite City?

Where do you want to camp?

thanks, Dave

Hi Guys,
I was hoping to leave Saturday...but, now this date clashes with another!

So we will plan to leave on Sunday am, hopefully head up with the Sunday / Monday group?

Maybe the Saturday group can head in from one end & the Sunday group from the other end......then we should meet in the middle somewhere?

Has anyone heard about the snow melt status so far this year?

Andy :D

"Speaking of Whipsaw snow. I flew over the Princeton/Whipsaw area last night on the way to Calgary. All I can say is bring along a shovel if you're going to Whipsaw this weekend. There appeared from the air to be snowed in roads anything over about 4000 feet.
Dave"

OK...next weekend is coming fast. Who is heading up to play in the snow?

What day / time is departure?

It looks like I will be out at sea on a yacht seatrial Thursday / Friday, so I will miss the meeting on Thursday. I'm hoping you guys will post your intentions / plans after the last minute planning at the meeting is complete!

What ever or where ever....count me in.
cheers,
Andy

I will be with the Saturday group,
would meeting @ Whatcom road exit around 10 o'clock work for you guys,
but I think it's only Shawn who will join us on Saturday.
with small group of about 6 trucks we will try to make it all the way to Wells lake.
We will wait for you guys there, since it will be late afternoon till you join us, we might build a bridge over the crossing of Wells lake, or maybe just play in the snow.

I just came through the HOPE- PRINCETON a couple of hours ago. My Dealer in Princeton does almost daily trips to the coal mine above COLEMONT. and said no snow at the mine or just above.no in the area they knew had been in to lodestone. i have bean across southern bc and in to Calgary and back through the rockies in the last 2 weeks. and it seems the snow level has been around 4500 ft. but it is changing rapidly with this weather. all the best rick.m. I'm considering coming on Sat to the area. Are there any good online maps of the trails and how to get there? I've never been in the area myself.

Are you going to try find us on the Whipsaw trail
or just doing some exploring in the area of Princton?

Thinking of coming out to join in but I need to be back at work on Tuesday. Also I've never been there so following someone out might be a good idea. I can't be ready to leave tonight but Sat or Sun could work.

Most of us have to be back for Tuesday,
we have three days so I don't think it should be an issue

I am leaving with the Saturday group, meet at Whatcom road
around 10
have no idea what Sunday group is up to.
You are more than welcome to come with us on Saturday.

Nope... Driving an exmil 90 now. Had to sell the 110 about 3 years ago to pay bills off. I'll have to grab a few camping suplies this evening but I should be able to do the Sat morning departure.

I've got a pair of tire chains, winch (with block and straps), and a high lift but most of my other off road gear in still in Caglary. Will this be ok? I'll try to buy a shovel on the way home tonight. Sorry but I don't have the chain saw to save the day like on the snow flake a few years ago ;)

Then heading East from there, we will pass Whatcom road on highway 1 around 8.30am. Post your intentions if you want to meet up.

We will aim to meet the Whipsaw group that left on Saturday at Wells Lake (also known as Twin Lakes) Sunday afternoon.
Returning to back Vancouver Monday afternoon.
