Radiator Ideas

#1 Post by DaveB » Fri Feb 02, 2007 4:07 pm

Well, the radiator in the IIa is still holding up, but just barely. Last summer when I moved over to the diesel I took out the original rad and had it cleaned and sealed, but after installing I noticed that it wouldn't hold much more than 4 lbs pressure before oozing out of somewhere. The diesel, on the other hand wants to run around 12 to 15 lbs and at that pressure it oozes even more, and has even expanded the top tank due to the pressure.

So, come spring, I want to get a new custom rad built. It would be easiest if it was an exact fit to the old one as this would simply bolt in and the fan, intercooler (not yet installed) and overflow will be an easy transfer, but I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

Anybody know who does a decent custom Radiator build at a reasonable price?

Building a new radiator

Hi Dave, I've used Diamond Radiators for about 25 years, and they are great. Marcel is the owner, and Greg Pifer is the shop foreman, and they are both extremely knowledgeable and fair. They've done my Rad and heater core, and its first rate. They are at 1295 Francis street just off Clarke Drive above Hastings, and their phone number is 604 253-1311.
Hope that helps.
