The Rover-Landers of BC

Okay! I have a second job to support my Land Rover habit
Anyone at founders day will have seen the white Disco and thanks for all the votes. I have just put a SURCO RACK on the Disco which means its well over seven feet in height so I have to pay over height now dont care racks is great.
Ive asked this question before and I now have the money.
Im thinking of new tires again 235/85/16 or 265/75/16
Also looking at a Detroit locker for the rear.
Winch ?
the 245/75/16 I got used and could need replacing so with taller tires and a locker out on this years run can I hold off on a winch or should I get the winch first .

Once im finished with the goodies for the Disco Im quitting the second job so I can come out on all the Rover Landers trips.

The conservative course of action is to get a winch first. With lockers, you can get a lot worse stuck than without.

On the tire and locker end, what have you done about strengthening the axles? That should be your first course of action before going bigger and locked.

Hi Andrew, I think your order of purchase depends alot upon your off road activities. If you are in the habit of challenging difficult trails by yourself; get the winch first for sure. If you always go out with a group ala the Roverlanders; get the lift/tires followed by the axle upgrade/locker. If you do it the first way you can rescue yourself when your alone and if you do it the second way and come out with other trucks you're unlikely to have to be rescued but help is there when you need it. Red 90 is quite right in pointing out that lockers will invite getting in over your head in some situations. Beefy axles/front cv's/drive members are nice upgrades and give some piece of mind but can gobble up the better part of three grand if you do it right. You can save alot of money if you lighten up on the go pedal.

Thanks guys I have worked it out that i can afford the rear locker and a winch and I will keep the same tires as I have one new one so I only have to buy 3 more.
I have enough to do the rock sliders diff guards and tires this pay cheque and the rear locker and the true track up front next pay cheque and then Im quiting! yeah right!
