Stemwinder - Red Creek Exploration
Join us May 5 & 6th for an exploration of the Stemwinder and Red Creek area. This is roughly 4 KM west of Hedley on Highway 3. (49°22'19.07"N, 120° 8'8.55"W) We will be exploring the area to the north of the highway, which connects with roads going to Summerland and Peachland as well as an old branch of the Kettle Valley Railway. Camp on Friday night (May 4th) at the Old Hedley East Recreation Site, north side of the Similkameen River. Then its only a short drive to the Stemwinder FSR in the morning. For anyone heading up Saturday morning, please let us know so we can wait for you, however target departure time from the camp will be 10 AM. Anticipate about 3-4 hours driving time from the lower mainland.
There are several lakes and recreation sites along the way and we will camp Saturday night at one of these.
Sunday, depending on the snow level, we will try and connect up with the Trout Creek or Whitehead Lake roads, which exit onto the Connector.
At the meeting there were several that indicated they would be coming. Please let me know if you are planning to attend.
thanks, Dave
