Hi Intrepid,

Lots of questions! There are a number of people on this forum and in our club that bring over vehicles regularly. Might want to check with one of them for details of how they do it. Send them a private message if they don't respond here...

Try maxpower, exmod90, Dixon, cdn_expedition_co and ray wood for starters. All of them have brought over vehicles one or more times.

Also, I noticed that the user cdn_expedition_co is selling his pride and joy, which I must say is one of the nicest trucks I've come across in a long time.

There are very few club events where a 110 won't work just as well as a 90, so it comes down to personal preference -- and more place to sleep in the back!

A good friend of mine and I went to the UK 2 years ago and purchased / imported a LR9O / LR 110 [ both Ex-Mod units - LHD ] . Will be more than willing to share the experience in having done that . I can only speak from my own experience, but I found it to be a very simple process.

The hardest part will be finding a vehicle. Nearly all Ministry of Defence vehicles are disposed of through Witham Specialist Vehicles Ltd (http://www.witham-sv.com/) and L. Jackson & Co. (http://www.ljacksonandco.com/) in the UK. Both of these firms have inventories on the web.

I personally choose to deal with Keith Gott (www.keithgott.co.uk) as I developed a good relationship with him during my six years in the UK. I find him to be fair and trustworthy.

Once you have found the vehicle, you'll need to ship it. I used Cutler Freight Forwarding in the UK (http://www.autoshipping.co.uk/). I shipped my vehicle "roll on, roll off" to Halifax for about $900. I think the price to Vancouver was close to $2000. If the vehicle is containerised it will be considerably more.

When the vehicle arrives in port you will need to visit the freight companies office to get them to release it (pay any outstanding fees, etc.). Then you're off to Canada Customs, where they'll review your paperwork (import form, shipping documents, registration or bill of sale). As it is 15 years of age (or more) I believe it's duty free :D

With your release forms, and stamped customs form you're all set to pick it up at the terminal (or freight yard).

And this is the bit someone else will need to answer... I registered mine in AB because ICBC wouldn't issue insurance unless the truck was present at their office. Last time I checked, Halifax was a ways away from BC so I had a problem. My insurance agent in AB however was more than happy to insure the vehicle under a binder - on its UK registration plates even.

Once I got it to AB, and I assume the same applies here in BC, you'll need to have an out-of-province safety inspection performed (most ICBC shops do them, Minit-Tune, CanTire, etc.). With a passed inspection you're ready to register and insure it.
