It sounds like the Weeks Lake area is no longer accessible, and the last time I was there, the parking area by the lake was a garbage heap. Wouldn't want to camp there. BUT there were some great trails in the area.

Also, most of the woods are currently shut due to high fire hazard.

A circle trip: Victoria, Port Renfrew, Bamfield, Port Alberni, Nanaimo is a nice route. Not much in the way of play areas unless you go exploring on a side road and I can't recommend any in that area because I don't know it well. The Island 4x4 site group can better advise you there.
