Alternator Problems

The battery light on my 2000 Discovery came on this morring on my way to work.

With the engine off I get 12.25V on the battery.
Engine running, 11.5V on the battery and 7.5V on the alternator.

Looks like I have an alternator problem.

What is my best course of action?
I am thinking of taking out the altenator and bringing it into a rebuild shop.

Does anyone have any shop recomendations in the Langley / Surrey area?

Thanks,
Christopher

Check the "Supporters" tab and you'll see Mr. Kieth Robinson listed. You may want to have Kieth check your Discovery's charging system before you start replacing parts.

Best place in Langley is probably going to be Dundee Electric .They are on the bypass near the railway crossing, they will be able to check it and fix it!!good luck

A co-worker recommended Moben in Surrey (was only a couple of blocks from my work) as they had good luck with them in the past.

Dropped off the Alternator this morning on my way into work, and picked
up the rebuilt unit on my way home. Regulator was dead along with poor bearings.

Just finished installing it - battery light off and I have proper voltage.

Fixed just in time for Founder's Day!
