Hi Josh,
Where are you located? I ask because I have the one piece defender door seals on my Series 109, that you could come by and look at.
Cheers,

Well you better get driving then...
They came installed when I got the vehicle. As my 109 is one of the last made (1985) I would think they are factory installed (i have other early defender parts such as the rear light cappings etc...). They are great as you don't have a multitude of smaller pieces to worry about. If you are running a older hardtop you will need to grind the lip off the upper and side sections as these seals just slide on a flat flange...easier to take off when you want to go topless too...
Based on your description I'm not really sure what you are referring to but if you'd like I can take some pics for you?

Josh,
I have an '84 110 with what I believe are original seals and one-piece doors. I checked both the hinge and latch sides of the seals and found no stiffer section. Could the "rod" be there to join the upper and lower halves when there's a seam for the two-piece doors?
Regards,
Pete

We don't need no stiffening rods....our rods are already stiff
Maybe you got the Viagra seals.

No stiff rods here either..... and I have replaced the seal on my Defender. Neither the ones that were on there or the new ones had what you describe.
