The Rover-Landers of BC

It's coming up soon!

A few details about our event this year... Rover Ranch 2009 will be held in conjunction with the Canada Day holiday weekend.

Since July 1 falls on a Wednesday this year, we will be holding the event from Wednesday July 1 until Sunday July 5th. Basically that means you're welcome to come up here and camp from July 1st to 5th, and we'll hold various activities each day. Or you can just kick back and relax around the ponds in the coulee... if you're not able to take the time off, feel free to come up for just the weekend. This event will be fairly loose so you can come and go as you please.

This event is family and dog friendly, so bring your friendly kids and friendly dogs!

So far we've started searching out some off-road day trips, and other activity ideas, so keep in touch for details.

Saturday night, July 4th, we'll have a Potluck BBQ (and perhaps some sort of bonfire, Bailey and London).

Let us know if you plan on attending by posting here, or email daveblair [@] blackpress.ca, (so we can have enough cake on hand Saturday night!)

Also there was an idea of a Dyno day on Thursday. Email me if you're interested, otherwise if there's not enough interest it'll be skipped this year.

We already have this event scheduled on our family calendar. Don’t know what day we will come out – probably Thursday. If it’s half as good as last year, it should be a fun long weekend!

Dave, looks like our request for a Canada Day citizenship ceremony may be granted, so can't make it until the Friday (possibly Thursday night) but planning to be there. Will you post details of how to find you nearer the time?

We are also looking forward to this, so that'll be 2 adults and 3 kids.

The dogs are sometimes "a little bit jumpy" to paraphrase an old sci-fi movie, so they will be staying at home.

Not sure what dates we will be there yet, probably arrive on the 2nd or 3rd.

Hey Dave and Pamela, as I mentioned we'll be there as well and looking forward to it as usual. I believe we'll be arriving in the early evening on Thursday the 2nd if that works. Have to figure out some tires though as I tore up a couple somehow on a trip out to Stave Lake, MTR's or the BFGoodrich, or...? Any thoughts? See you soon.

My personal choice are the BFG AT's...great on and off the roads. Long lasting, solid tire. If you are going to be running alot off road...then the MT's are better...however I have never gotten stuck with my AT's and they are quiet on pavement as well.

Hey Dave F, thanks for the thoughts, I looked at the BF/AT and I thought seriously about them but I can't get the size I needed either too big or too small, also their MUD/TA seems to be a tire of choice. I guess because I am somewhat stuck (no pun intended) for time and still think highly of them I will be getting a set of the MT/Rs today. I am a little concerned about the noise as I really use this truck a lot for city and hwy as well but we'll see on Thursday as I head up to Dave and Pamela's place. I guess I have been pushing the limits of the tires I have which I thought were near perfect but the sidewalls are a little light and I've lost two tires in the last few months and so I thought I would try something different. Hopefully we'll see you at Roverland Ranch, is that anything like Neverland Ranch, OK pun intended.... I was in LA close by when he died...

Pamela and I have been out exploring for the past couple of weekends. There should be some decent new runs this year, although not too tough. Snow still covering the tough stuff. Most of our runs will focus on the Hunters Range area, the big rectangle between Enderby, Mabel Lake, Sicamous and Revelstoke.

I don't think you'll need chains. Be prepared for a bit of mud, though.

Hi folks,

Just a quick note to say a huge Thank You to Dave and Pam who really went all out to put on a fantastic event. We all had a great time. It was really nice to meet everyone, the trails were fun, the weather perfect, and the camping spot was ideal.

We will definitely be back next year.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone's pictures too. I would post some myself but we forgot to bring our camera along for the weekend. :(

What can we say more than has already been said, a super weekend of fun, relaxation, good food and good company! Thanks so much Pamela and Dave for not only organizing it all but hosting another year. Some great mud as well to try out those new tires, lol.. Great to see all the other folks as well!

For anyone that took the Whiteman Road with us on Sunday afternoon, heading over to Douglas Lake Rd., you might be interested in knowing that the Terrace wildfire is burning right in that area. I don't know if it's crossed Whiteman Road yet, but its getting very close. Feels kind of strange when you were in the area just a couple of weeks back and now its being decimated.
