Island - Last Week of October

Just got back from a trip (from England) to the island and spotted quite a few landies....

Brown 110 Station Wagon heading into Victoria on Route 1 mid morning Sunday 24th.

Orange expedition equipped Disco I heading towards Victoria on the Sooke road the same morning.

Same brown 110 downtown Victoria on Thursday 21st.

Blue Series IIa 109 Station Wagon (BC plates - 163 kfd) China Beach parking lot Friday 22nd. Evan had a Roverlanders sticker in the back window.

We saw the guys in the 109 arriving (with surf boards) at the beach just as we were leaving. Had I known they'd arrived in a Land Rover I would have engaged them in conversation.

As anyone who's visited China beach will know, the trail to the beach is steep and takes about 145 minutes to climb. Had I not done it twice already that day (our eldest child fell in the sea and I had to hike back to the car for dry clothes at one point) I may have been tempted to wander back down and chat with some fellow landy enthusiasts.

Still, to anyone who recognises his or her truck - hi! It was good to see you.

That should be 15 minutes to climb the trail, not 145. Jeeze - I'm not that old yet!
