I am looking to pick up some chain for recovery.
Now if you have a 10,000 lb winch, you should have chain with a 10,000 lb working load limit, Right?
What grade & size of chain are people generally using?
Cheers, Roger

Hi Roger,
Just to confirm, when you say chain are you referring to the steel winch cable?

I don't use much chain other than for skidding logs generally. It is pretty "rough" to use on a car and heavy in any sort of length. What do you envision using it for?

I was going to get some chain so I can use the jackall to climb the chain.
I guess I only need chain as strong as the jack. I was thinking about getting stronger chain so I can use it with a winch when I get it.
I am amazed by how strong the synthetics are compared to good ol' chain
Maybe I should just get enough chain to climb the jack on and stick with synthetics for the rest

that is a good idea. It is amazing how heavy a big piece of chain is in the back of your truck. I carry about 5 feet to use with the jack or if I need to loop around a rock as an anchor.
