Whats the plan on the Whipsaw BBQ scheduled for the 16th?

Going out of town next week on biz and need to know if I should pre-prep the truck for the weekend.

Cheers,

The plan is for a run on the Whipsaw on Saturday morning starting on the south end. During the run trail markers will be installed every 5 k or so or at trail branches or as deemed necessary by the trail boss Kris Maksymuik. A ladder will need to be carried. I will be heading directly to Lodestone Lake with my trailer of supplies and food for the B.B.Q. People who wish an easier route can team up with me. I need help cleaning the campground, setting up shelter and prepping, cooking. The meal this year will be; select cold meats and cheeses, Caesar Salad, a selection of red wines, garlic bread, and penne in a rosé seafood sauce and an apple crumble dessert. All this in an intimate and delectable environment beside a roaring campfire at Lodestone Lake. Most of the food will be donated by our friend Dieter at sausage mania. Doherty and associates will supply the dessert. I will supply the wine. Vegetarians will have to fortify their menu. Please post your intentions so enough food can be supplied.
Dress for and expect winter conditions.

BarBQ'd cold cuts? Will they still be cold?

I am hoping to come but the IDS show is that weekend so I will need to check details and confirm later.

Count me in .....

Probably set up camp on the South end of the trail on Friday night and break camp at 10am to run the trail.
That will give anyone coming up Option 1. Joining the group on Friday night at the trail head or Option 2. Meeting the group pre 10am on Saturday morning then we will run the trail and will have lots of help in putting up the trail markers along the route.
The 3rd option, like Shawn mentioned, for those not wanting to run the trail, can easily get to Lodestone Lake via Coalmont and help Shawn set up Camp.

Post up if you are planning on coming up (helps get the food amount right) and also mention what option you are thinking of doing....

Cheers,
Andy :D

I'm in!

Not sure what my route will be at this point, due to a business trip. Definitely will be there with Rudy on Saturday.

Just finished today installing the sliders, so all I need now is rear shocks...then front shocks...then springs...then....?

I will come up Saturday morning.

I'll probably take the south route, if the signs are up I shouldn't get too lost.
:-)

I will be on Ch 4 CB and 146.460 VHF. I will give you guys a call from Sunday summit as usual and see how far along you are.

Not sure how many kids I will be bringing. Possibly just 1.

Hi All,
The plan is for those that are heading up Friday evening, to meet at Copper Creek down by the river. For those who haven't been there before its on highway 3 about 8km past the East gate of Manning Park. The turn off is to the right (on a sharp bend) onto a gravel road. You will pass the official Rec site (on the right) and continue over the bridge. Approx another 1/2km you will turn right into the trees (go slow, easy to miss) follow this small trail down to the river side.
For those meeting on Saturday morning we will gather in the lay-by at the Whipsaw Creek FSR (on highway 3) at 9.45am, departing onto the Whipsaw trail at 10.00am.
CB channel 4
Anyone not running through the trail just head straight to Lodestone lake on Saturday via Coalmont.

Any questions, post them here?

Cheers, :D

Wow.... was the weather good to us! There is nothing better than running the Whipsaw on a sunny warm Fall weekend with a sprinkling of powder snow across the landscape :D

The night was a little chilly at Lodestone at -7 degs  but hardly noticed after a few tasty appertisers and plenty of fruity wine!

Shawn, excellent job as ever with the great food and wine layout, good to see a nice size crowd along to share it....

Cheers,
Andy

Fantastic trip, great to see everyone there. Food and wine were top notch too.

I sacrificed a beer to the prince of darkness and the electrical gremlins stayed away long enough to get us home.

Yes, thanks Shawn, and thanks to Teresa for the delicious apple crumble.

You really couldn't get more ideal conditions for running Whipsaw, too cold for insects of any kind, plenty of water and mud, crisp blue skys and good company.

I just wanted to thank you (and your lovely wife Teresa) for the effort you put into the Whipsaw BBQ. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was excellent! You went to a lot of trouble; so much so that I felt a little guilty that I couldn’t do more to help you out.

Anyway thanks for making the trip a good one. You were a major contributor to our enjoyment.
