Wheel Painting...

I am planning on painting my Wolfe wheels before mounting them on my Defender 110.

I have dismissed powder coating as it doesn't seem to work well on edges and can't be touched up easily.

Previously I have always used the old Land Rover stand-by Tremclad but I don't seem to be able to get a close enough match to the colour of the 110. The wheels currently are standard black and I would like to get them close to Chawton White, LRC603.

Rustoleum has a couple colours, Ivory Bisque and Navajo White does anyone know if they are close?

Or should I just take them to a professional? What should five wheels cost to get painted?

Cloverdale paints does an Industrial/ Marine enamel that can be tinted in any colour. They can even colour match to something they can scan. This stuff holds its gloss and is tough as nails. If I knew that before I painted the DuPont DBGreen, I would have used that all around.

I did the top and rims in it and it takes a LOT to scratch it:

Hi Stuart,

Another place which I have used many times is Concept Finishes Auto body paint at 11211 Bridgeport Road Richmond. (just next to Big O tires)

They are very helpfull and seem to be able to match any custom colour in any type of paint and put it into a can or aerosol - your choice.

Cheers,
Andy

I've used General Paints marine line on a couple pickups before, it can be colour matched and is very durable.

I assume most marine lines would be similar.

You can get it computer matched in rust paint at Rona.

Add some enamal hardner & reducer, spray it on & it will not fade fast like normal rust paint.
