The Rover-Landers of BC

a question I have been pondering.... :? When they state the height of the coil spring, is that loaded or unloaded?

I'm trying to decide on replacing my 110's front springs with the genuine Land Rover HD springs or an aftermarket set. Currently the original springs are shot...3 coils compressed on the bottom with 2 at the top. The truck does sit lower on the front left, but I believe this is because the shock is also done...leaking.

The original LR's are rated for 225lbs and are "handed"...or I can go with a Bearmach (non handed) set that are rated at 255lbs. Both are aprox.15" tall

I have the tire on the hood, a 300TDi under it, and plan on putting back my Warn 8274 eventually...more than likely replacing my bumper. I don't want a super stiff/hard ride, but also want the capability of loading up the beast and taking off for trips, etc...

I have good condition LR HD springs on the rear with new OME shocks. I will also be replacing the front shocks with OME's.

Any ideas or suggestions? :idea:

The numbers are unloaded (free) lengths.

The 110 HD front springs are the same springs as the standard 90 rears. They give around 1.5" of lift and work well. In addition, they are usually free from any 90 owner that has changed springs.

The stock springs are progressive and are supposed to have the 3 coils compressed. This does not indicate they are shot. That is how they are designed.

The regular 90 rears are single rate and make more sense, IMO.

Are the Bearmach (BA2101) a good alternative? The spring rate is 255lbs @ 15".

Anyone have experience with these?

Would using these in conjunction with new OME shocks make the front of the truck level?

First to clarify. Your stock springs are dual rate 155 lb/in and 215 lb/in.

The BA2101 would get you around 2" lift versus the 1.5" from the 90 rears and obviously 15% stiffer.

I have the rover hd springs in the front of my 300 tdi 110 and i would suggest going with something offering more lift.. Even with the hd springs it sits noticeably lower in the front to the rear and lower on the left front (rhd).
yes they are installed correctly left to right for rhd.
I found after 3 years the hd springs were sagged right down with out the tire or winch on the front.
if u plan on a winch, hd winch bumper and tire on the hood get a heavier spring now and save urself in the long run!!! build it right the first time and save some $$ long term!

I have OME 751 HD in front and 755 (medium ~ hd) in rear. Not stiff at all to me and love the setup and will continue use it. My 3B-T is a little heavier than 300tdi I think, I don't have a hood mount tire, but have a warn M8000, soon will add on a HD winch bumper. btw, I run 255/85/16 muds that might help reducing some feeling of the stiffness.
