Who's got one?

How does it work for you and your Discovery or Range Rover?

I'm looking at some pretty good deals on Amazon (at least they look like good deals) such as Equus/Innova 3130 or Actron 9185 etc.

Hi Paul

I have an Innova 3100 and have used it on my 2001 D2 - so far I have had very few codes to check but it seems to give accurate info regarding typical engine sensors. Probably won't diagnose some the Rover-specific codes but for that stuff I seek the professional with the mega-bucks rover diagnostics software anyway. So far it has been a good investment (about $125 on sale a crappy tire a couple of years ago).

Great thanks Rob, its good to know that some of these tools will actually work on a Land Rover product. I can get the Innova 3100 for $86. but kinda of leaning towards a live data model like the 3140 ($179) or the Actron 9580 ($160.)

Yea I don't need anything too elaborate, mainly just read and clear codes.....like when I forget to plug the MAF back in after replacing plugs and try to start the engine....throws a code go figure

Hi Paul

I have the Actron CP9180 for several years now.
I'm pleased with the unit so far.
I had it connected for several trips hoping the 3 amigos would show up again. No luck no 3 amigos for several months now. The CP 9180 will not display this code.
The CP9180 showed water & engine oil trans oil, temp, RPM O2 voltage all 4 O2s, inlet air temp, you can save results & print out later.

Thanks for the details on the Actron Stuart...yea well of course I have no Amigos. :)

But I may qualify as a Amigo if I continue to forget to plug in bits after repairing

Looks good Stuart......I haven't pulled trigger quite yet, might have a line on a Hawkeye.....I'll find out pretty soon. If that falls through I'll very likely pick up a Actron of some sort.

Just an update....something that is missing from many good posts :)

I purchased this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images ... automotive

Picked it up yesterday, seems to work great. Real time data, recognizes make, model and engine etc etc.

Not sure what to do with all the info (more than enough for me to be dangerous).

Nice to have is the back light display and a 4 foot cable, so you don't have to kneel on the ground to use the scanner unlike a few others I have used.

I don't think it can drill down to Land Rover ABS codes or Transmission codes, if I figure that out I'll update.
