Low Coolant Level on 2010 LR2 18000km

Hey guys. Sorry I can't contribute anything yet because I'm new to everything. New to Vancouver, new to Land Rover and new to this forum.

What I have for you is a question, which may seem be quite dumb. I bought this 2010 Land Rover LR2 three months ago from Automall in Richmond. It's owned by the dealer and had 16K kilometers on it. After that I've driven for a little more than 1000 km and the "Low Coolant Level" came up. I checked the tank when the engine is cold and the level of the pink coolant is about 1 inch below the "MAX" line.

Now I plan to get some antifreeze coolant. Land Rover owner's manual specifies Texaco XLC, which puzzles me because I don't see such a brand in Canadian Tire. So, what should I do?

Well not a big deal as long as coolant doesn't continue to disappear. Just find the right type, by cross referencing Land Rovers specification. You could by some from the dealer.

Coolant

Hi,
Welcome to Vancouver and Land Rovers.

Yes, as Paul says, top up and monitor. If it goes down again then take it back to where you bought it and get their input. Never run the engine in the red (hot), can cause a lot of headaches and be very exspensive :angryfire:

Cheers,
Andy

You're so nice, guys. Thanks alot. I am just worried because the owner's manual emphasizes "Do not top-up or refill with conventional antifreeze formulations." It's even in italic writing, which really makes me paranoid.

It's good that you are checking and aware of the basic fluid levels in your new LR2, as Andy said, way to many drivers don't pay any attention to this easy step and sometimes expensive and very inconvenient events result.

No need to be paranoid, just careful and follow owners manual guidelines.....yea you may have trouble finding the "Pink Stuff" at Canadian Tire, but NAPA, Lordco might carry it.

Few things come to mind at 16K, 2010 model year would still be under warranty?

I would give Land Rover of Richmond a call see if they would top it free of charge and while you are there see if they sell it by the liter and buy a liter in case it needs to be topped up in about a year.

Or just call Jen or Roxanne in Land Rover of Richmond parts and buy some to top off yourself.

Well, it is a brand new vehicle under warranty. I would let the dealer top it up and check for leaks. This is why there are new car warranties.

Great stuff, guys. I'm so glad I joined this forum. I will sure give a call to the dealer now and find out the exact terms of my warranty. Thanks again folks!!
