A few weeks ago I got the Wife's D2 scanned as the Service Engine Soon light was on. The scan said it was front oxygen sensors, so I decided to get new ones as I've heard it helps fuel mileage too. Interestingly, it turns out the right one -- as looking out the windshield -- wasn't even fully plugged in. I decided to change them anyway as I got Bosch ones from Lordco in Duncan for $77.50 each.

Will the Service Engine Soon dash light go off by itself, or do I need to get the codes cleared with a scanner?

I recently did the same thing, and previous to that, had intermittent O2 sensor faults that would last a day or so. I changed the offending sensor, and the light went out and stayed out later that day.

The codes do get stored and I believe the stored codes need to be cleared by a scanner. This is on a late, OBDII Discovery I, but I'm assuming it would be the same for the Discovery II.
