1995 Disco 1

About a month ago, my remote fob stopped working.
As well when I lock the drivers door, my power locks don't work.

I can live with that, but...

The other morning while driving down the road, all the doors locked & my alarm went off.
I had to pull over, shut off truck & work my key in the drivers door lock a few times to get the alrm to shut off.

Today while the truck was sitting at work (un-locked) the alarm went off.
The doors did not lock this time, but with me not being there, the office had to listen to the alarm untill it reset itself.

Can I dissable the alarm?

Unplug the horn (were is the horn?)

I had a similar problem with my 1999 Discovery I. The 1995 Alarm ECU is different, I believe, so I'm not sure I can offer much direct help but...

I think when you lock the car from the driver's door, holding the key in lock position for 5 seconds locks the car without activating the alarm. This can be verified by checking the red LED on the dash. Blinking=alarm on, off=alarm off.

I don't know of a permanent way of disabling the security system.

I would suspect the alarm ECU...when mine went it showed similar mysterious symptoms. There's a good deal of information online about repairing dry soldier joints in the ECU, as this is often what goes wrong.

I found this site helpful, even though it is Range Rover specific. I am not sure if it will transfer to 1995 Discovery, but it was similar to my 1999 car.
