Is there an adapter to change the trailer wiring plug -- which is tucked behind the right-rear tail light of the D2 -- to the flat, four plug north american type?

Thanks,

Hi Dave,

I spliced directly into the light harness and added an adapter like this:

The components shown here are from Princess Auto, since they list them all on their website, however your local Lordco and most other jobbers have the same.

Note that the output here is 4 pin flat, which is what you're looking for. However, I found that there are a lot of trailers that use the very common 7 pin RV plug that I have to tow, so I did a bit more...

First I purchased a trailer brake controller. There are lots of these out there, but in mot cases you only need the cheapest, unless you're planning to tow more than 3 axle trailers!

Brake controller example: (mine was similar, but from Lordco)

Seven Pin plug for back of truck:

Finally, to provide 4 pin output when I'm only towing a light utility trailer, this adapter for $7.99 works very well...

Hope that helps.

cheers, Dave
