What engine oil are you useing?

I have read that 20w50 is the best.
Also read not to use Fram oil filters, but to use Napa as they are made by Wix.
Also not to use Mobile 1 syn. oil unless its the motorcycle oil as it has more NDDP (zinc additive)

I have been using Mobile 1 5W40 Mercedes Benz Syn. oil & Fram filters in my Disco 1 & have not had a problem in the 3 years I've had it (although it did run hot going over Hunters Range this summer?) . Also since changeing to the Mobile 1, I don't use any oil between changes even with almost 300,000kms on the clock. Plus it now doesn't leak engine oil.

I have used Fram, cooper, and LR filters. They all work well. You just have to have a brain about you when you install them. Just like everything else. Some people seem to have a bad spate of luck with one type or one thing. You ever notice that some people always seem to be plagued with computer problems?

I use a 0w50 from C-Tire all year round and change filter and oil once a year. It comes down to what makes you feel better about putting in. I just know it flows at cold starts on -20c and does not turn to water when its hot.
