Hey guys & gals. After many years of dreaming, last Friday I finally joined the Land Rover community with my new pride and joy... a 2012 LR4. Very excited!!
I used to be an avid 4x4 guy about a decade ago with my trust old bone-stock '86 CJ7 but it's been a while. So this morning I got up nice and early and headed straight for Mt. Prevost. As luck would have it the gate is still closed, so I went to the backdoor off Hillcrest Rd. Once I found the right in-road I was off with a smile on my face... for about 50 yards lol. Rounded a corner and suddenly I was on an alien mountain. Damn.... a decade sure does change things. I had no idea there was THAT much logging going on the backside of Prevost. Once upon a time you could drive the backdoor road totally under cover of trees till you hit the rocky mid-gate about 5km up the mountain (before the Cairn road). Still though, it's a beauty of a trip. Then I got lost lol. Funny how cutting down the trees makes one lose all reference to where you are. I eventually gave up on finding the Cairn road and turned around and went back the way I came. So yeah, not the trip I had planned but that's 1/2 the fun sometimes. Nothing crazy either, just a nice sunny drive.
I see there are a few other guys in the Duncan area. If you see a white LR4 driving around gimme a honk! Seen a few RR's and Discos in town so I know you're out there. 8)
