235/85 or 265/75

Okay guys within the next few months ill be looking for new tires.
These are going a 96 disco with 2in lift.
I have narrowed it down to these 2 sizes. Just wondering if you guys have any pros or cons between the 2 sizes?

You might want to consider 245/75x16s due to gearing concerns. My '01 4.0 D2 has basically the same engine and gearing as yours, and the 245/75s are as tall as I'd want to run without putting in 4:10 gears (stock is 3.5:1 - ish). Just my experience.

Both will require trimming. Obviously the 265s will require more. It depends if you are willing to do the trimming.

Trimming I'm not afraid off,it's not really a daily driver anyway.
Seems like they are both around 32in tall with the 265 being a little wider.

It is a fairly big impact on trimming as the width is a big problem. The hard part is properly dealing with the rear doors. Keep in mind a spring lift should have zero effect on tire clearance. To do a proper check, remove the springs and cycle the axles through the full range of possible travel. You may need longer bumpstops.

Hey Frank, I've got a decent set of Bridgestone Desert Dulers AT's 235/85 on Disco rims. 2 of them are on a truck & 2 aren't. You're more than welcome to come by & swap a couple on to see what they look like. IMO they are kinda skinny, but I didn't have any rubbing issues with turning radius.

I had 265's on my 2" lift disco and had no issues in the rear. I did touch the rear bottom corner ever so slightly. The big deal was the loss of turning radius with the tires hitting the radius arms. also had to cut the plastic bumper ends in the front.
