200TDi in a 109" questions

yes I'm sure it's over hashed but I think that is part of my problem... I want to clarify somethings.

The Defender 200TDi is preferred for the following reason, over the Disco 200TDi.
The Defender turbo doesn't interfere with the left hand drive steering box(Can't seem to find a clear answer on this)
The Defender turbo doesn't interfere with the frame
Battery tray doesn't need to be removed.

Problems you will have to face with a Defender 200TDi
The bell housing will require minor modifications, for both types of engines
One of the engine mounts needs to be moved
Finding space for the inter cooler(you can skip the inter cooler if you don't mind loosing some HP)
You will need to figure out some throttle linkage, this is true for both Disco and Defender engines

I'm certain I've missed lots and open to any clarifications.

Also I'm looking at purchasing my engine from www.landroverimport.com, I'm a bit concerned as when I said that I wanted a 200TDi to put in my 109 series IIa he said it should just drop right in, I'm not so certain about that....

The problem with losing the intercooler is that there is no fueling compensation for intake air temperature. You would need to manually reduce the on boost fueling and be very carefully that exhaust temperatures do not get too high.

Hey Andrew, I see you are in Kelowna. Talk to Alan Simpson in Merritt, he installed a 200TDi in my 109". In fact it is at his shop right now getting checked before heading to Tuscon.

It's perfect matched to a Santana transmission and Fairey O/D.

Cheers,
