The Rover-Landers of BC

Hi Rover Landers,

I am new to the group. My family and I are in the process of moving from Vancouver, WA to British Columbia. Our possible new home will be in the Chilliwack/Sardis area.

We acquired a 2003 Disco SE7 during the summer which my kids affectionately nicknamed "Big Red". I can perform the routine maintenance or simple repair jobs. She has received tons of preventative maintenance work (e.g., new prop shaft, new fluids, new throttle gasket, new front cover gasket, new transmission filter, new brakes, etc) as well as added the Center Diff Lock option.

I have gone on a couple of 4x4 outings with the NW Overland group. Big Red is still under the stock ride height. The recent outings are telling me that I will most likely need to add a 2" lift, winch option and heavier springs for braver off-road excursions.

I am hoping some of you may be able to recommend reputable LR shops in the Fraser Valley area for more complex repair jobs or installing additional off-road complements such as an ARB bumper.

I am looking forward to meet the Rover Lander group on future outings. Can't wait to explore beautiful BC!

I would say any time is good to join the club, but now might be even better. If you've got a bit of free time in the midst of your move, the annual Founders' Day in Cloverdale (Langley) is coming up two weekends from now. A great place to meet members and join the club for yourself! There are a number of members running stock trucks as well.

The Supporters and Links tab on the main page http://www.roverlanders.bc.ca are your best bet for local rover gurus.

Yes, welcome. As Dave says, the Founders' Day is a great place to start.

Don't worry about the stock/not stock thing. You go as far as you're comfortable on the trails and we've had plenty of stock cars through. An experienced spotter is a great thing if you get a bit white knuckled. The D2 is darn good straight out of the box. A good set of tyres is where you want to start. After that, just a slow build up in the areas you'd like to augment. There's usually someone around with a winch when it needed.

Your car needs to meet Andy's (Mr. President). His kids named his 'Big Blue'. (It's a blue 110 SW.) You two can represent both ends of the visual spectrum. :mrgreen:

We have just returned to the States from a trip to BC. Good news.... we made an offer on a house in Chilliwack. We hope to move to beautiful BC by March. I am looking forward to meeting some of you!
