It has been a blast. What an eclectic mix of vehicle based camp styles. Everything from a foam pad on the bed of an 88, right through every level of sophistication to a two room tent complex complete with a carport. Some deploy in seconds, like a hardtop roof-top tent to intricately staged tents for families.
Regardless of the camping style it sounds like everyone slept well, and they should have after all day out on the trail on Saturday. What time did the hardy group at the campfire turn in for the night? Some were up early, building an appetite for breakfast I guess, judging by the speed all those pancakes, sausages and eggs disappeared.
Clean up was done in record time because; 1) it was so tidy to start with; 2) many hands make light work; 3) good help!
Fifteen vehicles on the arduous drive and other than a couple of kissed running boards and a dent in a skid-plate, there was no report of injury or damage other than the end pulling off of a park-brake cable. No headlights needing to be duct taped back into place, no flat tires (tyres), no broken diffs or axles and nobody sliding backward into a ditch. We didn't even get to do any winching of stuck vehicles. With no stuck or broken vehicles and none covered in mud, how is it possible that everyone had a good time?
We're glad to have hosted this event again, our twelfth such event. "Thank you." to all who came and helped make for an enjoyable weekend. We're looking forward to next year and I'll start planning the next drive right now.
