I will first of all cop to being a complete noob - I have just bought a 97 Discovery and while driving it home the rear interior lights would not turn off. They seem to be off now, but I can't figure out what I did or should have done. This is very different than the 67 SWB that I used to own.

Is your rear door ajar? That'll do it everytime.

I will re-install the bulbs and see if it is the rear door. I did try closing all of the doors, but who knows. Considering how sticky the driver's door is, this could be the case.

Maybe also check the little switches that tell the car the doors are closed.

They normally stop the interior lights from coming on....

Did you manually turn off the front interior light?

My lights start coming on randomly about one a year. I pull all the door switches, clean them with contact cleaner. I've also put a wrap of electrical tape on them.
This seems to make the problem go away for about a year.

I think its mostly the rear door switch as its pretty grungy when I take it out

Does anyone know a good source for the door switches?

ebay.co.uk - about $5 for the switch and $5 for international postage.
