Anyone out there know where I could find some non synthetic GL-4 gear oil 75-90? I just installed a Roamer overdrive and it needs GL-4 gear oil because of the bronze syncro rings which GL-5 oil reacts with. I am running synthetic now but it makes the box a lot noisier especially on the over run.

If you have an auto electric branch nearby, they sell GL 4 spec, synthetic gear oil 75/90 by penzoil that is suitable. Have some in my audi and my series land rover trans. Careful if you see one that says GL4 and GL5 compatible, they aren't despite what a salesperson might think they know. Roamerdrive give a list of suitable oils for their equipment. You could probably email them to let you know of the selection.

No such thing as a non-synthetic 75W-90. You can't get that range of viscosity with non-synthetic oil.
The oil should not be making the box noisy.

Redline MTL seems to be the most readily available.
Not sure where you are located, but I found Mopac Auto Supply in Langley (just off 200th near HW1) to be the best price by quite a bit (and had plenty in stock).

Redline($24/L!) or Amsol($14/L) are all I found on Vancouver island. Where are you located?
The Amsol I found at trotac marine in Victoria. Been fine in my roamerdrive for the last 500 miles.

Redline MTL was $17/quart at Mopac earlier this year.

As you use the overdrive, the gears will wear in and it will get quit down.
I did a 4,000k road trip in the spring just after putting in mine. Long highway driving (Utah and back) did the trick, it's nice and quiet now.
The correct lubricant is essential. I also changed it after the first 5,000k

Thanks for the replies. I found that NAPA sells Valvoline gear oil under their own brand and it is supposed to be safe for yellow syncs.
Thanks, Tom
