'98 Disco I seat position controls

Seats don't move the way I want. I can move them in some directions, but not all. Uncertain if it's the controls or the wiring, as I have swapped controls and again, different directions work, and others don't. I'd also like to scare up a wiring diagram that would show the seat movement wiring so I can verify things. I also disassembled one of the controls (a broken one, thanks goodness!). Don't do that! Resulted in a small explosion of springs, levers, rockers and on and on. Hopeless. Straight into garbage bin!
Does anyone out there have seat control panels for driver and passenger? Ones that work 100%? What about a wiring diagram, or at least a link to one?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

Have you tried gently opening up the switch box and spraying a good amount of contact cleaner (aerosol can type).

I had read that this fixes 80% of seat switch issues so tried it on my RRC seat switches and it brought them all back to life, at least for another 18 months when they started playing up again...

cheers,
Andy

Thanks, Andy. My passenger seat has stopped moving. I'll try that... :D

Spraying denatured alcohol spray into the small holes on, then shaking the excess out and blow-drying the boxes had no effect, so I proceeded to pry open one box to see if I could wash the grunge out of the contacts. After unscrewing the two screws which held the top plate, I used a small screwdriver to open the control. It came apart suddenly, and all the springs, levers and fiddley bits came flying out. Must have been thirty or forty pieces. Overwhelmed with the jigsaw puzzle, I tossed the whole mess. I still have two controls left - I had bought a spare. Perhaps I used the wrong spray. The idea of prying open another box is a bit scary. Perhaps holding it down tight on the table while I winkle the box open??? There are a LOT of pieces inside. :bom:
