Coming up fast is our 2016 Annual Rover-Landers Founders Day, this year is planned to be BIGGER & BETTER, it is being held in a new, larger venue in Chilliwack. So its time to dust off / start up / tune up your Land Rovers and get them down to this awesome Indoor Land Rover show, the biggest Land Rover event is Western Canada with an average of 70 plus Land Rovers in attendance, from all over BC, Alberta & Washington. Bring along your Land Rovers complete or even trailer in your half complete project for all to see, all Land Rovers are welcome, old, new, shiny, battered ..... hope to see you all there!

What - 2016 Founders Day, an Indoor Land Rover Show
Where - Chilliwack Heritage Park, 44140 Luckakuck Way, Chilliwack BC, V2R 4A7 (Highway #1 - Exit 116 – Lickman Road)
When - Saturday 20th February 2016, doors open at 11am, close at 6pm.
Who - Everyone & Anyone with a Land Rover is invited to drive right into the Arena, park up and mingle.
What Else - Entry is $10 per Land Rover when driving into the arena, walk-ins are free (all entry proceeds go towards helping pay for the arena rental, so even if you are attending for only an hour or two, please drive your Land Rover inside rather than leaving it in the car park and walking in for free) :D

There is a Best Western Hotel just a couple of minutes from the venue for those who are from out of town or those who want to stay in the area for the one day off-road snow run that will be held on the following Sunday morning.

We will have lots of "Best of" awards which go out to the Land Rovers that get the most Peoples choice votes in multiple categories.
There will be a BIG Raffle table full of Land Rover goodies, Rover-Landers T-shirts, Hoodies, Hats & other merchandise. We will have Land Rover movies & slide shows, obstacle course, Technical displays, Kids Play Table, Vendors Tables, Food truck onsite and much, much more .....

We will need volunteers to assist with set up and take down (don't be shy!) Email or PM me if you can help out (we need YOU!)

More details and information will be added to this post in the upcoming weeks.

Hi Jim,

Yes, lots more room this year in our new location, all owners with a truck entered in the show are encouraged to bring along your over-flow of Land Rover goodies and set up besides your truck.

Hi Bill,

Good to hear you can make it, yes there is always lots of familiar faces at Founders Day. Some old RL faces that I only see once a year!

Cheers,
Andy

The Snowflake chase trip will be a one day off-road run, most likely in the Chilliwack / Harrison area. Meet at 9am back on the road by 4pm. Traditionally held on the Sunday after Founders Day.

As we hope to find snow on the run (enough to play in at least) we won't know exactly where the run will be until the week before. (Depending on the snow conditions at the time). Book the day on your calendar, Sunday 21st Feb........ more details will be listed in the upcoming weeks.

Hi Bill,

We invite vendors of Land Rover / Off road related products to the show that have previously or currently support the Rover-Landers club. They are welcome to set up a table and promote their products.
If you check out the photo gallery from previous Founders Days you will see some examples.

If you need more info you can email us at [email protected]

Cheers, Andy

If you are looking for good options for the Sunday run, there is lots of easily accessible snow out towards Hope. It's faster than rolling out to Harrison from Chwk too.
Good options would include American East Fsr (accessed from hwy1), Ruby Creek FSR, or the SilverSkagit Fsr then up towards silver lake, & up towards Jones Lake.

For those not familiar with the new location, I thought I would post a link to the Chilliwack Heritage Park.

http://chilliwackheritagepark.com/

Take a look through their site, we have booked the 34,000sq ft building with a dirt floor. (Land Rovers love being on dirt!).
One important note, it doesn't have much heating so everyone should dress warm and bring extra layers if necessary. It can get a little chilly in Chilliwack in February. There will be hot food and drinks available on site and lots of Rover-Landers Hoodies for sale if you need an extra layer!

Cheers,
Andy

PS BCP - thanks for the Snowflake Chase suggestions. Last year we had a foot of snow the week before when scouted, then on the day of the run every trace of snow had gone!
Were you out there (in the Hope area) in the last few days?

Yes, I live in Hope. Was up SilverSkagit fsr yesterday as far as 8km, lots of snow on the west side of silver lake. A fairly good logging road heads up from beside the gate at silver lake prov park. Was up there a bunch last year on my dualsport. It climbs up into a really nice area with a hanging valley.

It was brought to my attention "that everything in the auction is guy's stuff".
Reasonable summation I thought; so why not have some items that may appeal to our ladies?
That being the case, Muttley was thinking of donating one of her paintings.
Eric.

Hi Eric,

Sounds like a great idea (as long as it's not a nude painting of Eric .. )

On that subject, if there is any others out there who has any interesting items for the raffle table, I'm sure that LR part that you have been moving around your garage for months would look great on the raffle table! Last year we had lots of awesome donations from members, lets see if we can do it again.
All money from the raffle goes towards helping the club with the cost of holding this great Event..

Cheers, Andy

An idea for the snowflake chaser would be to head up Garnett FSR (off of the lougheed, about 10 minutes past the aggasiz/Rosedale bridge), you can make this a loop drive by turning down American Creek West FSR at 9km & following it 19km around to American Creek East FSR (which pops out by Lake of the Woods, just 3 km past the bridge over the Fraser into Hope on Hwy1). There are lots of off shoots to explore if the high pass is still snowed in at 17km, or a fun loop if it's open. I was working up that way a fair bit last year, the road takes you into some nice spots & has the novelty of being being one of the rare local roads that makes a loop.

Thanks for the tips, we did do the American Creek loop a few years ago, it had a challenging loose hill climb if you are doing it clockwise. The Hope area is a little too far for a Snow Flake Run, it adds an extra hour each way on the highway.

We did scout out a nice snowy valley on the route out to Spoon Lake last weekend (off the Chilliwack Lake road), so that will be our venue. More details in a separate thread.

Hi all,

I plan to drive out to the show from Surrey, in my 1952 S1 80".
If anyone from the GVRD area is driving in a Series (I.E. SLOW) and wants to convoy out, please contact me.

Regards,

Martin

Is anyone coming over from the Island (Nanaimo Ferry) that can take an extra passenger who'd be willing to pitch in for gas and ferry costs? Or is there anyone that would like a ride and can contribute (and doesn't mind riding in a Toyota).

Cheers

I see the Heritage park has RV parking. Anybody know if that's an option last minute?
