anyone know where I can find the following part on this side of the pond? I would like to install a new VDO oil temp gauge.

Also, what's the best location to install the sender? oil sump or near/ above the oil filter where the oil pressure gauge/ sender is located?
thx

My understanding is there is not a location on a 300TDI for an oil temperature sender. 200TDI and earlier have a spot for it, but it was removed for the 300TDI.

Your link was for an adapter to the sump plug. The sump plug is 1/2" BSP. I would not see the sump plug as a good location to read oil temperature.

I currently have a sender installed where the drain plug for the oil sump is located. The oil temperature tends to read around 70c if the truck is being used for a prolonged time. It has only ever reached 115c when I was fully loaded climbing out of Palm Springs, on the interstated, in late Aug in 110f heat... because I started changing my gauges to VDO...I'm now wanting to have matching gauges all around....such a cycle... however, the VDO sender does not fit my current oil sump adapter.
I have seen other posts (not many) that have indicated the sump as a viable location...but I have also seen one or two posts where they had some sort of three way Y adpater installed where the oil pressure switch is located....s/thing lik this (but perhaps not this exact one)

The question that came to my mind was: where IS the best location to get an accurate and applicable oil temperature? sump or elsewhere?
I know I can technically use my current sender location (oil sump) but of course if Im changing out the gauge to VDO...it opens the possibility of installing the sender elsewhere.

You want it in the oil flow. You would really need to drill and tap the filter mount. Personally I don't think there is a need for an oil temperature sensor on these engines.
