Personally I would go for the rebuild, but when you do it (or get it done) get the hardened valve seats & uprate to 8:1 compression, I found it made a lot of difference performance wise.

I was able to take my old head in & swap it for a fully complete rebuilt head with the 8:1 compression & hardened valve seats all ready to go.
(this was from Wise Owl when in North Van, not sure who would still do this now?)

I don't know if Wise Owl is still doing rebuilt heads for series trucks. Mark?

There is a fellow in south Abbotsford that does little but engine machining for British vehicles. He's semi-retired and works out of his home. He did mine, including hardened seats. Last name of Bird. He doesn't list a phone number for his business, but can be found on Huntington Rd (Vye Rd or 8th Ave are the same thing) between McCallum and Mackenzie Rd. He has a
Britsh flag on his mailbox and is pretty well known to the British car club out here.

I'd still do an exchange head with Wise Owl if Mark can supply them, but this may be a good alternative in the event they don't.

Wise Owl list a rebuilt 8.1 head at $561 and $714 ported for extra power

I am poised to reopen the Rover Works and will (again) be able to offer head rebuilds with hardened seats etc. I will also be available for component rebuilds such as transmissions, water pumps, engines and the provision of quality spares (new and used). My pricing is competitive and the service is local to B.C.
