Hi,
Just to confirm is it the plastic fan blades that are broken? Is your fan loose at the center nut, have you grabbed it and tried to wiggle the fan to see if there is any play? They are a left hand thread so don't normally come loose unless not put back on properly.
If the fan is not loose then something else went into the fan blades. You said the fan belt started to strip so this could of got caught around the fan blades?
How is your coolant level? Are you loosing any?

PS - there are Discovery's and Range Rovers (P38) at most of the breaker yards so you may want to start there for another one.
Otherwise pick up a new one from Rovalution or Hesp on the North Shore.

I have several fans. I can send one over on Greyhound. Do you need the viscous coupling with it?

Once you get the new belt and fan installed I would check your belt alignment just to confirm visually that its all nicely aligned on the various pulleys.

Hopefully it was just a case of old belt failing and when it came off it contacted the fan blades? Pretty unusual though, especially if it only came 50% off.....
