I have a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II - just bought it in December and sure am loving it.
It does have a bit of a grinding noise in my steering - only when I make a turn to the right when parking.. just wondering if all it needs is more power steering fluid or could be something else? doesn't affect my driving at all so just curious what you all think?

Does the grinding correspond to wheel speed? Could it be a tire rubbing at full lock?

Just does it when I go really slow backing into my parking spot...more annoying than anything but i know it should be smoother and not noisy...

Seems to only happen when I'm reversing come to think of it...

Grinding noise and a bit of vibration - usually tyres rubbing on the radius arms. Easily corrected by adjusting the stop bolts on the hubs.
Whining or moaning noise is an indication that the steering pump is on the way out.

Try having someone else back up for you and listen yourself from the outside. You should be able to figure out where it is coming from. You want to try straight back and then turning in each direction.
