Calgary series owners, I could buy your lunch.

Hi my name is Charles Penner and I am living in Calgary and although I have never owned or been in a Series Land Rover, I am interested in getting one.

I have been looking around the past few months and kicking some internet tires, :D but now that I am a few weeks from graduating university, again  I wanted to start pursuing my own bucket list, which brings me here.

To his credit Jim from Nanaimo who is selling his 1973 Series III, suggested I first see a local series, which brings us to the free lunch.

If your in the Calgary area and have a series rover and can spare some time I'll buy your coffee or lunch for a look and ride in your series.

I would also be interested in meeting anyone with good mechanical skills related to the LR Series in Calgary, and yea there could be a lunch or coffee in it for ya :D

Oh should let you know I am off to Nanaimo for a visit at the end of March.

Cheers
Charles

Hey Charles, I'm not that much use to you because I have a very atypical series (it's on a toyota chassis with a chevy engine) . . but if you make it to the end of march without a ride in a series I'm sure there's a few guys in the lower mainland of B.C. here who wouldn't mind showing off their rigs to you on your way through to nanaimo. Or the guys at rock-island-rovers may even be able to help you out once you're over on the island (though I'm not sure where they're actually based)
good luck!

There are a few of us in Calgary but I think most of us have up graded to coil sprung rovers. I can't think of any series guys in calgary at the moment though I do see the trucks around from time to time.

There are certainly some around, but I don't know any that are really internet active. There is Kirk, but his "creation" is probably not what you are thinking about.....

You might want to post on the locacl mailing list as there are some Series owners on there.

Wow great response, I have had a few invites via pm so it looks good for seeing my first series up close.

Thanks again for the warm response.

Hey Charles - Give myself or Vern a call at The Rover Shop (403) 769-1700. . We run an independent LR garage in Calgary. My 1961 SII 109 is currently down to the frame (getting galvanized) but we have a few other contacts who would probably be glad to sit down with you to chat for a bit.

Cheers for now
