RTV Trials

#1 Post by DaveB » Sat Oct 23, 2004 9:38 am

We had planned to run our own RTV Trials on November 7th, but the liaison for that run was not able to prepare... So, it was decided at Thursday night's meeting that we would host the 4WDABC Region 2 run the following weekend. See announcement from the calendar below... I'm told that there could be quite a number of trucks from around the lower mainland, so we want to plan well to make it a successful event.

In that regard, there are several of us that are heading out this Sunday, October 24th, on a reccy run. Please feel welcome to join us. We'll be meeting at Paul's Diner in Aldergrove for breakfast at 9:30 and heading out shortly after 10 towards the Cultus area. Paul's Restaurant is in the Safeway Mall, east end of Aldergrove. Address is 27520 Fraser Highway, Aldergrove.

The Roverlanders of BC hosts the 4WDABC region 2 run this month. We decided to run a UK style Road Tax Vehicle Trials as was planned for last weekend, however inviting participants form the 4WDABC to try their vehicles in the event.
Trials are a big attraction in the UK due to the tight tracks with lots of trucks so lots of spectator action.
The trucks will be required to navigate through 7 gates successfully over a distance of about a half mile, with points given for each successful gate.
Rules and details will be posted shortly.

Hi,

I just sent an email to the folks at 4WDABC, providing a web form to fill out for participants in this event. Several of you have expressed interest in participating and assisting — and if we get 20 or more trucks from 4WDABC we'll need all the help we can get!

Web Form: http://207.194.57.9/4wdform/

Please go to the form and sign yourself up as either a participant (Land Rover participants can show the rest how its done!) or volunteer to help us.

The spot at Cultus is secluded, but various hilly terrain and a bit of mud, depending on how wet it is. For those of you who've been around for awhile, its the same spot that Dave Tebbutts held trials 5 or so years back.

Replying to myself again...

Looks like we have about 12 sign ups for Sunday so far, with 5 being Rovers. So, for any of you that are sitting on the fence or haven't signed up yet, please do!

And those that are volunteering to help, you'll likely get the opportunity to run your truck through the course you set up as well.

Well I am over here in Ausse and having to put up with all this sunny hot weather so I hope one and all have a great day on the run and I will post a couple of trucks of interest that I have seen here when I get back in a week.

I had a really good time at the Trials. Thanks again for letting me come along. I got to meet some local Land Rover owners, watch some skillful driving, and even study up on good recovery technique. Well worth the drive to Cultus.
