I am looking at replacing the shocks on my 2001 D2 (standard spring suspension model). I use it mostly as a daily driver with some recreational off-road playing in the back 40. Standard springs, 245/75R16 tires usual load is a couple of people and a little bit of gear.
My local parts store can do OEM for $71 a piece while one of the usual rover parts suppliers has Old Man Emu for $110 each. Considering this truck spends most of its time on pavement is it worth the extra cost for the emus? Are they really that much better that they are worth 55% more than the OEM shocks? Then again, the land rover dealership wants $146 a piece for rover shocks (maybe the Old mans aren't such a bad deal after all...)
Any insight would be appreciated.

Shock options OEM vs OME for D2?

Up to you really. They will be stiffer than stock and offer a little more travel, if that is desirable to you. Do you want stiffer or lighter. There are other options.
Shop around a bit, as I think the $110 might be high. Try NSOR, http://www.nsor.com/ They seem to have the best deals.
