Jim McEachern Memorial Poison Mountain run ...Sept 19th &
Hi All,
We are drawing the plans together for the Jim McEachern Memorial Poison Mountain run. Dave and John have put their heads together and this is the basic plan;
Sept 18th - 20th
Leave Whatcom road (highway 1) at 6PM on friday night.
Camp Friday night at Mission Dam campsite coordinates are 50°47'18"N 122°13'4"W
The estimated driving time from Lillooet is 40 mins, Last gas is in Lillooet. We should leave the campsite at 10 am and our route will be along Carpenter Lake turning off on the Marshal Lake Rd and heading into the Mud Lakes area and Swartz Lake. Possible campsite in that area. We'll see how things progress!! Swing around to Poison Mtn and from there we have a few options depending on time regarding return routes and other sights
So mark you calendars & let us know if you intend on coming along.
An alternate way up to Lilloet could be the Sea-to-Sky via Whistler, especially if you live North or West Vancouver.
cheers,
Andy

Road still open, but subject to delays.
This from the interactive maps on bcwildfire.ca :

There's another fire burning up the Yalakom as well. Hopefully by mid September they'll be out or at least dying off.

Jim McEachern Memorial Poison Mountain run ...Sept 19th &
Hello All,
We will confirm final meeting / departure times at the RL's meeting on Thursday. Stay tuned!
Hopefully last weeks rain put the dampers on the forest fires!
Good to hear you and Ken can make it Paul.
I'm looking forward to exploring a new area (for me)...
Cheers,
Andy

Hey Guys, just wondering if you can get me more directions to where we are heading, as we want to hook up with you. We might be coming from the Whistler way. Is there a place we can meet on Saturday or Friday night? I might not make it Thursday to the meeting when you guys finalize everything!
Thanks John and Sandrine.

Meeting point
Hi JC
Put these Coord's in your GPS, 50°47'18"N 122°13'4"W
You can see on Google that it is not far from Lilioet.
Meeting either Friday evening or Saturday morning before 10am.
When you get to Whistler from Vancouver you are about half way there!
I am thinking of heading up the Sea to Sky also, but could never keep up with that fancy motor of yours..
See you at the Dam

trip report?
Is there or will there be a written report on this trip to accompany the outstanding photos? I am interested in hearing more details about the route, particularly from Mud Lakes on. Thanks, Larry

Poison mountain trip
Hi Larry,
Most RL trips have detailed write-ups in the quarterly newsletters.
So this run will be covered in the Winter edition.
If you have any particular questions, feel free to post them up. John, Dave and Greg were our guides on the trip, I'm sure they will help you out with some info...
cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy: I thought that would be the case. I have seen both ends of that trip but never the middle portion. When I was at Schrader Lake a couple of years ago I met a two people who had come in by Jeep from Mud Lakes and they reported the road in very bad shape but it does not look that bad from your photos. Is that the Big Bar ferry you crossed on? That is some beautiful country. Larry

Poison mountain trip
Hi Larry,
Yes, I can see the road along Mud lake getting bad in the wet season, as it only takes a couple of feet for the road and lake to all become one
The last couple of months have been so dry up there that the lakes were low so no problem for us!
Yes, that was the Big Bar ferry. He told us that he averages a dozen vehicles a day so we made it a busy day for him!
We basically started at the Mission dam near Lilloet and came out 2 days later at Clinton. It was a great run, we were surprised not to see more Rovers out for the ride!
cheers,
Andy
